One of the important steps every article marketers should do is to track closely where and how well their articles work for them. How do you do that?
The answer lies in the members area of your article directory accounts. Popular directories have quite complete reports for each of your articles, from number of views, clicks on the URL in the resource box, number of times the articles have been re-published, and so on.
Looking at this data every so often reveals information that can help you become more successful in article marketing. For example, if you know your audience is interested in certain topic or words in the title, you just need to use similar titles to get more readership.
You may find that certain articles get extremely high click-through rate to your site. With that information, you may start investigating what causes he high clicks. Perhaps the resource box is very relevant to the content of the article.
Another thing to track is where your articles are being published. Try copy and paste a unique sentence and surround it with quotation mark and use it as the keyphrase in search engines. If a site used your article and it was indexed by the search engines, you should be able to see it.
Your web site statistics may provide additional information such as where the traffic comes from. For instance, you may notice a site that refers quite a bit of traffic last month. Clicking on the referral URL, you notice that the site published one of your articles. Approaching this site so you can publish more articles is certainly a good idea to grow your traffic.
Adjust your article marketing strategy based on this feedback. You will be happy you spend the time to do so.
