If you never spent even a moment in any branch of the military, you should have no right to speak on the subject. Quite a Harsh choice of words. But there are reporters and writers out there printing it everyday, like they know what they are talking about. Bottom line, our troops need to come home. Not soon, not in a couple days, but now. President Bush says we are in Iraq to keep the world safe for Democracy.

If anyone took a close look at the “war” in Iraq, they could see that it takes on the same pattern as the Vietnam war. Except that there are no real battles to win. Any battle in Iraq sneaks up on you in the form of a human bomb or an open ambush. Soldiers fear for their lives every single day while they are there. I’m not so sure it’s actually dying that they are afraid of, it’s how they may die.

How do you fight a war where the enemy makes up his own rules and our military follows the guidelines? There are many reasons that our government makes our troops follow rules and regulations for engagement. I think thats what scares soldiers’ the most. Fighting an enemy they can’t see, or one that has no real value for human life, most importantly, their own. Willing to sacrifice themselves to blow up 3 or 4 American troops.

We learned a Valuable lesson from September 11. Yes, I know a lot of people are tired of hearing about it. But we also learned a Valuable lesson from the attack on Pearl Harbor. Our country acted in accordance that time. Why not now?

How much longer do we need to wait for another terrorist to blow up something before our Government will act. Is it just political or is the Government just “wagging the dog” using the war in Iraq for political gain and power publicity. Military recruiters are having trouble recruiting soldiers. No one has to ask why. A young man or women pondering the thought of their own demise for a war that not a lot of people agree with. perhaps the Government should change a few things that would encourage more people to join the military.

The first thing should be to promote recruiting with a banner that reads “Join Now, The Geneva Convention Does Not Apply.” Lose it, or lose it, take your pick. Because as long as we follow it. There is no way to win.
