Acne is an often embarrassing and sometimes painful condition that is most commonly associated with the awkward teenage years. Adult acne is defined as the occurrence of acne in a person who is over the age of nineteen. Adult acne is thought to have hormonal roots. Adult acne encompasses cases of acne attributable to five of the six clinical types of acne - the only clinical acne type which is not responsible for acne in adults is infantile acne.

Ever wonder what is the difference between creams, gels, ointments, lotions or foam formations in acne treatments? The part of the acne treatment product which holds the active ingredients is known as the vehicle. It is the base or part of the product that gives the treatment its substance. The strength of these active ingredients in acne treatment formulations might vary depending on the vehicle used. Hence the vehicle can be seen as equally important as the active ingredient in achieving satisfactory treatment results from tropical acne therapies.
