Acoustic guitars use the hollow resonating chamber of the body of the guitar to amplify and resonate the sound of the strings being plucked, but on an electric guitar, this isn’t the case. The body of an electric guitar is usually entirely solid, and the sound of the strings being struck is picked up by something called a pickup, which basically measures the amount of vibration of a particular string, and transmits this frequency to an amplifier. The amplifier then magnifies this frequency to create a sound which is not only audible, but also usually modified or distorted in some way to create the distinctive sound of an electric guitar. Without a pickup or an amplifier, the sound of an electric guitar is less than impressive, and is by no means merely a quieter version of what you would hear with an amplifier.

If you are looking for a fanciful tale, then the Chinese zodiac symbols can definitely satisfy that mythology craving. It is the story of a Jade King asking twelve animals to come to court. These twelve animals were used to form the Chinese zodiac signs.

The twelve animals were the rat, ox, tiger, dragon, rabbit, snake, horse, ram, monkey, rooster, dog and the pig. Instead of the pig, the twelfth sign should have been the cat but that rat was tricky and “forgot” to invite him.

Electric guitars became needed during the big band era in the 30s and 40s as jazz music orchestras; with large brass sections became larger and larger. The first electric guitars that were used were made of a hollow arch-top acoustic guitar body with electromagnetic transducers attached.

Les Paul experimented with the idea of electric guitars by attaching microphones to a guitar. One of the earliest electric guitars used tungsten pickups with the acoustic guitar bodies and was designed by Adolph Rickenbacher and George Beauchamp and was built by Harry Watson, who worked for the Electro Strong Instrument Corporation that manufactured the pickups.
